I am so excited!!!!! You're going to be home on January 11th!!!!! I can't even imagine how excited you are if I am this excited!!!! It's funny because I had a dream the other night that you came home! We had this huge party at school and their was a lot of yummy food and horses all over the place!!! Isn't that weird??!! Real live horses just walking around the school! It was a good dream! :-) And, in a way, it's a dream come true because you are coming home really soon!!! Except I'm pretty sure there won't be any horses in school, but that would be pretty awesome! :-)

THURSDAY ~ DECEMBER 27th

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!
Jordan has gotten sooooooooooooo much mail!!!!! Thank you all for the cards, gifts & letters.
She is definately the most popular one on this unit!! We have enjoyed hearing from all of you.
It gets lonely down here so far from home. Jordan is doing well. She has started walking with assistance short distances if I hold her and walk behind her. She has not had her surgery yet. Maybe next week (I will let you know). She / we had an awesome Christmas. We went to Shawn & Patti's house in New Hampshire and Jordan spent most of the day with Kachina. That is all she really wanted. She gave her a thousand kisses !!!! and watched her run and play in the snow. It was nice of them to open their home to us. It just didn't feel like Christmas though. It would have been nice to be home. We are still really homesick and missing all of you like crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jordan and I talk about the "family" we miss at the Barbara Bush Unit as well. They have a lot to be PROUD about with Jordans progress & therapy. I don't think they have any idea how great they were. (They can definately compare themselves to Spaulding and as far as we are concered.....they rank HIGHER !!) They are VERY SPECIAL people with a gift and kind hearts.
We Mainer's need to BELIEVE more in ourselves and the therapy program MMC offers.
Thank you to all who adopted us for gifts this year. We still have not opened all of our presents. We want to wait and have Christmas when we get home............especially...........since today we got the date of discharge..............YEAH!! January 11th !!

I cannot wait to get her home. I cannot wait to get back to Maine. I cannot wait to be a family again. I cannot wait for all of it.
We are so blessed and have ALL OF YOU to THANK for this. I have been remembering back and reliving those early days lately and they were not fun. I remember the first night when they did not thing Jordan would live, and weeks later all the things they were telling us would be the outcome.......then one by one, Jordans strength pulled through and kept proving them wrong......convincing everyone to BELIEVE......and all of the prayers.....that power given to Jordan to help her recover this far..... We are forever indebted to you and greatful for the life you have given back to us.
We look at life very differently and live each day minute to minute....hour to hour.....day to day...
Miracles can happen......if you BELIEVE!!!

See you next year!! 2008 will be a new start for the Emerson family.

Hi Jordan! I read your mom's post; it's good to know what you're up to! I'm really sorry you don't like it much in Boston, but in three weeks you'll be out! That's sooner than before right?! Hey Jordan Bea!! It's Alyssa. I MISS you sssooo much and by what you said in your blog you don't really like it there. That's too bad. It will get better though. You just need to get settled in and get used to being there. From the sounds of it, you won't be down there for much longer though. You're out of there in three weeks?!?! But you not liking it there will make the day passes a whole lot better! It's gonna be really cool to go to New Hampshire to see your horse. I can already tell you Christmas will be good!!! Are you in the Christmas spirit?!?! I am!!! Because it is Christmas time... I keep on thinking of the North Pole... you're gonna have to refresh my memory of what it like up there. Because, I mean, you've been there before. Right??? Anyway, we had a Christmas assembly but it was much better last year!!! We really need some new sixth graders. FRIDAY ~ DECEMBER 21st

Happy Birthday Grammy!
Hi Everyone. Sorry I haven't gotten to post anything until tonight. There is only one computer and it is very hard to get access to it.
Jordan & I are trying to settle in down here. It has been extremely difficult and we are VERY HOMESICK!!! Things are very different and not at all the way we are used to things.
It is distgusting (Jordan's words exactly). I have to say I agree. I have been sick for a week.
We found out today we will be here for another 3 weeks. Jordan is going to have surgery somewhere between Jan. 3rd - 10th on her vocal cords. She cannot talk without this surgery.
We want to hear more than whispers.
We cannot come home for Christmas as it is too far to travel BUT we have been cleared to go to Shawn & Patti's for the day so Jordan can be with her horse on Christmas. We will make the best for Christmas day for Jordan and we will celebrate again late January at home with a tree and holiday dinner and family & friends.
We are thankful to have Jordan for Christmas and that is all we want.
We have been blessed and thank each and every one of you for everything you have done for our family. We "BELIEVE".
Tomorrow we have a day pass to go to NH and Sunday we have been cleared to take her out around Boston.
Jordan and I are missing all of you terribly. We are trying to rush through each day to get home. We really miss Barbara Bush unit and all of the staff there. It was an amazing send off they did for Jordan and extremely emotional for me to leave. Jordans plan is to ride the "TRAIN" home when we come home for good. We are going to try to make it as exciting as possible.

This is the 553rd post on this blog! Wow!!!! Ida and I went around to a lot of the Middle School classrooms on Friday and Monday - we didn't get a chance to do the 6th graders but we got to the 7th graders and the 8th graders. You should get the letters any day now because the school sent them yesterday I think! Ida and I didn't get to write a letter and send it with the group of letters - but you hear from us everyday whether its on this blog, seeing you, or emailing you! Unfortunatley, the "seeing you" part hasn't occured since you went to Boston! But we aren't worrying - we are definately going to visit you asap!!! I don't exactly know when but I definately want to see you, the new place, and your new room! Is the food better, worse, or the same as Maine Med?

How is Boston?! I hope you're doing WONDERFUL! I bet you are, I mean you did so good in Maine that you're all the way down to BOSTON! Ashleigh & I were laughing at lunch about how when we were at Ashleigh's house we left Kaya downstairs with the HUGE spider that you and me were COMPLETELY freaking out about! And when we ran upstairs and left Harley & Bud out there! LOL! We were sitting on her bed then all the sudden you look outside the door and go "Guys!.. I see something!" and we're like "JORDAN! STOP!" and you go " No seriously guys.. I see something!" Then Ashleigh goes and shuts the door! Oh and don't forget you and me had to go to the bathroom so bad! And I'm like "Jordan!... come with me!" And you go "I'm scared....!!" So I set up the thing where two of us would be standing outside the bathroom door just in case some scary people came! And in the beginning... Sierra... the trampoline.. ENOUGH SAID!LOL! So funny! We need to have more moments like that, I was REALLY scared that day though! I think we all were!

Hey Jordan! How was your weekend? And your horse?!?! Oh, it must have been so awesome to see her and ride her huh?! I started crying when I read in your mom's post how Kachina came up to you and kissed you! That must have been so special for you Jordan! She missed you too! I was happy and excited myself just to know that you were going to New Hampshire and were going to have so much fun! I bet you'll get to go visit Kachina again real soon if you keep up with your amazing progress!! (Which I know you will!) Speaking of which...I can't believe that you are going to Boston! That will be so great for you Jordan! I bet you are kind of sad though. You'll probably miss the nurses and doctors, but when you come back, you can visit them and show them all how even more utterly amazing you are! You will be able to come even farther than you already have here in Maine, and that will really knock some people off their feet! And besides, Boston will be a nice change of scenery for you. And I bet you will be allowed to go on some nice day trips while you're down there! It's impossible to be in Boston and not do something fun! SATURDAY ~ December 8th

Hi Everyone. Today was an amazing day! It was worth a MILLION Dollars to see Jordan having so much fun. As soon as we arrived in NH at the farm we got out and loaded Jordan in a all terrain vehicle with a bench seat and seatbelts. She was wearing her snow pants, boots, winter coat, gloves and a hat. Patti, Jordan and I all rode to the top of the hill up to the horse paddock where Kachina, Nita, Promise and Buster were. Cherokee was down below behind the barn. We unloaded Jordan out into the snow and stood her up against the fence and the most wonderful thing happened immediately. Kachina walked over to the fence and gave Jordan a kiss. I don't think there was a dry eye or not a big lump in the throat to see that moment happen. After standing a few minutes Jordan asked to go into the paddock with the horses. Jimmy and Shawn put her over the fence and YES you all know what happens next.....Jordan was put up on Kachina bareback and she went for a ride!! She asked Patti to make her trot but we told her we cannot do that yet. She had a grin from ear to ear. We then brought all the horses down to the barn and Jordan spent time giving Kachina treats and brushing her. (I have a lot of pictures!!) We all got cold and went inside for some rest. Jordan rode 4 different times today. Bareback and in a Western saddle. The doctors and nurses will freak out we put her on a horse. I also think that they knew we were going to do it. It is worth all the punishment we will get. LOL. We didn't get back until late tonight and we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow so we tried to get her to sleep earlier.
Now I have to tell you some news we received this past week. It is sad and good all in the same feeling. Tuesday we learned that the Team wants Jordan to go down to Boston for continuation of her rehabilitation. We all decided we wanted to look into this however we didn't think it would progress so fast. On Thursday evening we learned that Jordan was accepted at Spaulding Rehabilitation and there are seven more on the waiting list waiting to get in. They have a bed available on Monday and I think we have convinced them to wait until Tuesday. This has all happened way to fast and is very overwhelming. We have not told Jordan yet and we are doing so tomorrow (Sunday). It is going to be very difficult for all of us. We have grown very attached to everyone in her Unit and they have grown attached to us as well. There have been lots of tears shed these last couple of days. Poor Jordan does not understand why. They have planned a "graduation" party for her for tomorrow when we all sit down with her and discuss this in a positive manner. It means that they have done everything they can for Jordan here in Maine and since she is doing so well they want to do MORE aggresive rehab to see how far she can come. She has already come such a long way in such a short time. We don't know if we are leaving Monday or Tuesday but Jordan and I will be going down to live in Boston for 60 days. I am hoping to be able to take her to the Aquarium and Museum on "day passes" just like we do here in Portland. The only problem is she may not be coming home on Christmas Day ~ that doesn't mean she will not have Christmas. We will celebrate know matter where we are. We already have everything we want for Christmas anyway!
So this blog will be very important these next couple of months because it will be our lifeline to all of you. Maybe some of you will be able to come down to visit us!?!
Jordan will be sad but I think in the long run she will be happy we did this. We want to make sure we do everything possible for her to get better and this is another journey we need to take whether we want to or not.

Hello Jordan Bea. It's Alyssa. I'm just checking in on you!! It's ssoo GREAT to hear how well you are doing!! I'm ssoo incredebly, absolutely, terrifically, positivley PROUD of you!! We have ssooo much FAITH in you. Thinking back, we had a lot of good times didn't we. We would always play house, movie theater and American Girl dolls. Do you remember Michelle. She was wierd. I can still remember when she chased Connor and McGyver around the building to give them a good-bye kiss? And also the time when Spencer shot your headband out of the Birchwood van window going to Dundee. Then I wrote a story about it. That was pretty funny!!! I will ALWAYS remember when we were at Ashleigh's birthday party and we stole Dan's boxers and kept on throwing M&Ms at them. Then you pretending to freak out at Spring. You kept on telling her to be quiet, but when someone else made a noise, you wouldn't care. I remember when Sally and I gave you cheese for your birthday. Cheese was your favorite. That night we had tacos for dinner and you would just eat the cheese out of the bowl. And before I forget, I saw John at one of his basketball games. He doesn't know me, so I didn't say "hi." He probably would have looked at me funny. I won't be able to write for a few days. I'm going up to Litchfield this weekend with my grandparents. I'll see you soon though.
